Great Expectations

I think one of the things we all tend to forget with twins...is they are individuals. A little easier since we have a boy & girl...but, things you would expect to be very similar...are not. I suppose babies in general. I expected them to be very similar in their eating habits.
While breastfeeding was my preferred choice... it has been placed on the back burner...used as supplementation, as formula had been for Natalie. I had mixed emotions about it. Felt like a failure, felt like I was letting them down...but, exhaustion overwhelmed me. I had to express 8 times a day for 25 minutes... this was in the beginning, when we had to feed them every 2 hours because they were preemies. So- that would mean no sleep...and taking care of twins...just not smart. I'm grateful that I can at least supplement a little, but, I know it's coming to an end. I just have to focus on them as individuals.
Violette is my good eater! She is the pro...when I am on my own having to feed the two of them...I have to stagger a little... I can always rely on Violette to be a proficient eater...then, we can burp & snuggle, then I can spend time with Christian...he is my baby boy who loves to take his sweet time (you cannot rush that boy) and TALK to you while he eats...he has his series of noises that he makes as he eats & sucks on his pacifier... it is hilarious. Violette only speaks when she wants something...and wants it YESTERDAY! Mostly, she wants to be held...moreso when Daddy is here... poor Adam...he's going to have 2 daddy's girls...and Natalie is pretty demanding! Nat is learning about "sharing"...
Now, if I have to feed them simultaneously... well...there are a few options... they have their infant seats- I can sit on the floor and feed them that way...but, tends to get uncomfortable. Then, there's sitting Indian style, each one in my lap, with legs overlapping one another... Chris' on top, since he's smaller...then, there's the boppy pillow... put one in there, and hold the other one...
All have the same issue though...burping!
Now, off to my own list of things...my own expectations...
